The 2023 USA Gymnastics Georgia Xcel State Championship competitions will be held in the beautiful facilities of The Classic Center, Athens, Georgia. The Gymnastics competition takes place in 54,000 square feet of the Classic Center's Akin's Ford Arena with plentiful tiered seating for spectators. Nicknamed the Classic City, the college town of Athens is best known as the home to the University of Georgia, whose football team, the Georgia Bulldogs, won the 2021 College Football National Championship. It's also home to a thriving music industry that gave birth to big names like R.E.M. and the B-52s, both of which reference Athens in their music. Today, there's a thriving downtown with locally owned restaurants and shops as well as restored Victorian homes.
